Guardian Dragons Book 1 Aarabassa World Series Catherine L Vickers 9781482375688 Books

It took me a little while before I really got into it. It was kinda confusing for me at first but I think most of that was because I had life get in the way quite a bit while trying to read this book and would forget what was going on so I would have to go back a page or two to get reacquainted with it again. Once I got back into it then I was interested in it and look forward to reading the next ones in this series. Would like to see how it ends.

Guardian Dragons Book 1 Aarabassa World Series Catherine L Vickers 9781482375688 Books Reviews

I found Guardian dragons a very interesting read, the world is unlike any I have previously read and drew me in quickly which is always great to find! Although the first book was about meeting the characters and setting up the issues for the rest of the series I finished it eager to read the second book! There are a lot of characters and each of them different from the others, and of course awesome new creatures to meet. I loved the ideas and species that this book introduced, and I think this series has great potential to become an amazing series! Its a great read to any fantasy lover. I'm off to read the second book, Flight of a Changeling! I'm anticipating that book to be a 5 star rating D
I was disappointed in this book. The potential was huge but I found that it was more of an introduction to all of the characters. The story just never developed. There was one bit that had the potential to really develop but it finished. This little girl went swimming with the sharks and it was mentioned once right at the end of the book, now that really had the potential to go somewhere but it just went nowhere.
I really did struggle with this book for this reason, there didn't seem to be a beginning, a middle or an end. I suspect that the series is the beginning, middle and end but for me this makes it very tough reading, there just wasn't anything to grab my attention.
Having said that the book was beautifully written. It didn't seem to flow very well because each chapter seemed to jump form one character to the next. I really was disappointed because the summary of the book sounded fantastic.
This book was somewhat difficult for me to get into. The writing came across rather like a meandering stream with a slow, mostly even pace. Focus on specific characters lasts only a few chapters before moving on to new characters so it took a while before I could see how they were relevant to each other.

I enjoyed how the history of the Lightlands and Darklands came to be separated was given as a bedtime story for a young girl. Like so many young children, Bryley was full of questions and kept interrupting her father's tale. This was one of the best parts of the book in my opinion.

In spite of how slow the story moved, I did stick with it. While I never got truly engrossed in the story, I did come to appreciate the work Vickers put into creating the world of Arabassa. I've read other books that remained slow throughout that were followed by excellent sequels. There is a lot of potential in this book for Arabassa to become a great series.

Errors missed in editing that would have improved the readability of this book had they been caught. In spite of these problems, Guardian Dragons was, overall, a nice story. I will probably read the next book (Flight of a Changeling) at some point.

I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I want to start off by saying I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The concept for this book was intriguing and the execution was not that bad. However, for me it was just a little too slow paced. This book felt like a long introduction and I found myself wondering when the action was going to start. There are also a lot of characters that the author introduces, which is fine because I want to know about how all the characters fit in to the story and the author does that in this book, however it felt like just a big build up with no conflict or resolution afterwards and with so many storylines it got a little confusing to keep track of how they all fit. I would have preferred if the author stayed on a few people at a time, instead of introducing all the characters during this book. However, I understand the way the author did it and it is the way the book is, which is fine - it is just not my favorite.

The ending was where it began to pick up for me, in terms of the promise for some action, but then it just ended. I want to know what happens and how this whole light vs. dark will turn out, so I will most likely be reading the next book.

I would recommend this book to those who like fantasy novels.
The more I read of the Guardians and the world they live in the more I love the book. The description of people and places made you feel like you were there.

Meeting the characters and learning their roles in saving the world was an awesome read. The difference between the twins and where they went in life surprised me. I didn't expect it when I met them. The dragons are protectors of the magical wall between the two worlds of Light and Dark.

Heather is known as the "Changeling" and is the only person who can cross through the magic wall..She is adventurous and anxious to see what she can do as a Changeling. Her childhood friend, Leon, is one of the kings sons and is much more reserved than Heather but he can not tell her no and they always try to out do each other on their quests. Heather decides she wants to see if she can change into a sea creature and survive underwater. Leon summons Prince Gadon (ruler of the underwater Huphins)to help him with the request. Meanwhile things are happening that are about to change their world as they all know it.

Looking forward to the next book!!
I have to say, this is not my usual type on Genre in books - but it sounded interesting and I decided to give it a go. And boy am I glad I did! The story grabbed hold of me from the start. I was swept away to another world and enjoyed every minute of it. I can't wait for more from this debut author. Great read!
